PE and Sport Premium

PE - It's taking part that counts!!

The School provides children with a programme which promotes learning through movement.

Our broad-based curriculum and extra-curricular sporting activities provide the opportunity for each child to gain the understanding that physical activity is an important aspect in the development of their personal well-being. Focus areas such as court games, gymnastics, dance and invasion games are taught on a rotational basis, allowing students to develop their overall physical fitness and sports skills base. Although competition is introduced and encouraged, the emphasis at this age is on participation in an enjoyable, safe and non-threatening environment.

The School takes part in inter-school competitions in various sports.

  • Medway Games
  • Medway Football Tournament
  • TKAT Games
  • Local Netball Matches & Tournaments
  • Local Rugby Matches & Tournaments

The Sport Premium is allocated to schools in order to improve the provision of PE and school sport, and ensure that pupils may lead a healthier and more active lifestyle. Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Each year we aim to spend the allocated funds on equipment and training in order to extend the skills, experiences and opportunities for our children to take part in different activities.

At Napier Primary Academy we aim split this into three categories:

  • Replacing, replenishing and enhancing the current equipment stock.
  • Equipment to extend the opportunities for the students to take part in activities they might not have had the opportunity to take part in.
  • Equipment that is a tool for cementing, extending and scaffolding the knowledge that Napier Primary Academy pupils have regarding the positive effects of exercise or to target specific skills to improve and enhance practical sports performance.

Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
