The time has finally arrived! After much consultation and planning, our remodelling programme is underway.
In March 2011 we acquired the Robert Napier Sixth Form block so that we were able to begin working on the remodelling of our school. The project costing £2.2m is funded by Medway Council and is estimated to take 12 months to complete. For an up to date version of the plans please click here.
As a result of this large project we will have:
· increased playground space as a result of the demolition of buildings
· a new entrance to the school on Beresford Road
· additional community facilities
· better kitchen and food serving facilities
· a multi use games pitch on the currently unused grass area on Napier Road
· better toilet, cloakroom and changing facilities for our pupils

You will have seen progress in our Phase 1 building works with the following:
A new entrance into the school via Beresford Road with canopy area for parents;
Our new multi-use games area adjacent to the school;
Our new hall with stage;
Relocated kitchen with serving hatch;
Our brand new ICT suite upstairs;
A new community room.
Phase 2 will now commence and will continue until the end of the Summer term.
The demolition of the old studio, library, walkway and parents’ room will take place over February Half Term. A new block (staffroom and teacher facilities) will be built joining the two main school buildings with a new enclosed play area and Studio/Music Room. We will have an access route between our two main buildings which will be secure and safe.
Pupils in Nursery, Year R, 1 and 2 will now use the small gate in Beresford Road each day. Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will continue to use the Napier Road gate. Breakfast Club will continue to operate as normal and pupils will continue to use the Beresford Road gate. There will be many parents who will need to pick up children from both Napier and Beresford road gates and we will ensure pupils wait safely for you to walk round.
A toilet block and mobile cloak rails will be available for all Year 1 and 2 pupils. Year 5 and 6 pupils will need to use upstairs toilets for the time being until their toilets are refurbished. Mobile cloak rails will also be available to them.
Lunchtimes:
Year R pupils will have their packed lunch in their classrooms and school dinners in the lower hall.
Years 1 and 2:
11:30 – 12:00 Play on the multi-purpose games area;
12:00 – 12:30 Packed lunch and school dinners in the lower hall.
Year 3, 4, 5 and 6:
12:30 – 1:30 Packed lunches eaten in the upper hall, school dinners in the lower hall. Play on the multi-purpose games area and front playground.
All fire escape routes are planned and the whole school will have a fire drill this term.
We would also like to assure you that all Coombs operatives are cleared to work within the school and that they take health and safety of our children seriously.
Phase II started this half term. As you can see a lot of extensions were demolished including the music room, parents room, SENCO office and Walkway. If you want to see what happened in Phase I please check out the Picture Diary on the right at the top of this web page.

Elsewhere the canopy, ICT Suite and offices were nearing completion, and the old offices were being cleared out.
