Napier pupils raise money for Haiti
Total raised so far through non uniform day, cake day and the balloon race,
£1040!!!
The pupils and staff of Napier Primary and Nursery School held a non-uniform day and cake day on Friday 29th January 2010, to raise money for Haiti. They raised an incredible amount of £777!

Teachers dressed up as school children which added a touch of humour and fun for the pupils.
Throughout the week pupils have discussed the earthquake disaster in Haiti in assemblies and lessons; in particular why such a devastating earthquake happened and what the impact of it has been on people’s lives.
The pupils, through the School Council, have wanted to continue efforts with fundraising for Haiti and decided to have a balloon race. Each class will raise money to release a balloon to see which one goes the furthest. A message with the school address/telephone number will be attached to the balloons.
This was initially the idea of Katie James (Chair of the School Council) and her mum Dawn Apcar. Katie said:
“It’s an even more fun way of helping the people of Haiti and we hope we will raise even more money.”
We will be releasing the balloons on Friday 5th February 2010.
“We feel so proud that our pupils have shown great compassion about the disaster in Haiti and that they have suggested all sorts of activities to continue raising funds.” Headteacher: Zerina Slade

Mr Cross, Mrs Slade and Mr Smith (Governor) release the balloons with the pupils.
Mr. Cross, who helped Katie organise the balloon race, thought it was wonderful how the school came together to help those affected by the crisis.
“The pupils at Napier have always been very aware of their responsibilities towards helping others around the world, and this is another great example.” Deputy Head teacher: Paul Cross.
The amount raised for the balloon race was an impressive £263.
