Much of year 6 life is spent revising and working towards the 11+ and SATs tests.
Booster classes and Easter School provide opportunities for the children to learn and have fun. Other events the children are involved with during the year include Book Week, Science Week and Activity Week. These events involve dressing up as a favourite character, carrying out exciting investigations and showing off specific talents. Some of the children will also have the opportunity to go on the residential trip to Osmington Bay in Dorset.
However our main priority in Year 6 is to prepare the children for life in Secondary Education. Therefore, we expect them to settle down to their work quickly and quietly and always give their very best. Homework is set daily and we specify when we expect children to hand this in. Any work which is not completed to a satisfactory standard will result in them losing part or all of their breaktime to complete it.
Children are given homework diaries which outline any tasks they are expected to carry out each day. (Our half termly newsletter outlines the subjects to be expected.) We would also appreciate it, if you could spend some time each day hearing your child read, and then recording this in their contact books, with a comment about their progress.

A lot of time is devoted to focusing on Areas of Weakness and SATs practice during the Spring Term in Year 6, to ensure that we have fully prepared them for the tests in May.
